Education History
Norwalk Church School
The first church school opened in 1901.
The second in Long Beach in 1938.
Then to Lynwood in 1939.
After that the Norwalk children attended Fullerton.
School started again at Norwalk in 1942.
Soon after the purchase of the "Firestone House," the church school expanded its classrooms to house the first four grades into the front room of the building.
Then in October of 1957, the church school, unable to operate on the funds available, had to close for the last time.
As a result, the Norwalk church children were bussed to the church school in Bellflower.
This began the merger of Norwalk into the Bellflower Church School, now known as the Adventist Union School.
These are the teachers that records provide for the Norwalk school between 1901 and 1957: Mrs. Strong, Miss Ida Shirley, Mrs. Kathryn Lawson, Mrs. Allan De Vore, Mrs. Goddington, Mrs. Effie Robinson, Miss Verona Chambers, Mr. and Mrs. Fisher, Miss Louise Schultz. Current Adventist Education
