It started with a prayer for Bible studies which began with a fender bender, and has since led to several baptisms.

Sandy Everett has always had a passion for witnessing and soul winning. Even her husband Rob was brought to Sandy for Bible studies by a mutual Adventist friend. She has always prayed for God to lead her to those that need studies but had to take time off when she went back to work for a law firm. When she got ill and had to stop working, she began praying that God would again send her someone to study the Bible with.

Then, one rainy afternoon, while she was stopped at a light on her way home from picking up her daughter at school, a young woman skidded into her back bumper. Little did she suspect this was the beginning of her answer to prayer! After exchanging phone numbers, they decided to meet for lunch to discuss it further. Before the meeting, Sandy felt impressed to bring spiritual literature to their meeting, which included mail-in Bible studies. When Rosa looked them over, she stated that she wasn’t interested. Sandy’s heart sank but then Rosa added “If I had someone that could give them to me in person, then I’d be interested”. Sandy was excited as she explained that personal Bible study was her passion. This was a most unusual answer to her prayer!

Prior to meeting Sandy, Rosa had most recently been baptized as a Mormon, but was currently attending a Pentecostal church. As the studies progressed, Rosa was so impressed with the Adventist message that she started sharing it with a friend she met at college. The young lady, Angela, joined the Bible studies shortly thereafter, and when both Rosa and Angela completed the studies 6 months later, they requested baptism.

Still praying for more souls, Sandy was then given the name of a lady by Pastor Simon who had recently started coming back to church after being away for some time and was requesting Bible studies. Deborah had an Adventist background but after having been away, had forgotten much of what she had known and wanted to know her Bible better. Deborah shared her reborn faith with her husband, who at the time reluctantly joined the studies. John, who had a Catholic background, became so convinced of the truths he was learning, both he and Deborah were baptized after completing the studies.

Oftentimes, during the day Sandy and her husband Rob would eat their lunch at Subway where they got to know the manager, Diana, (Dee Dee) and her husband, Ishmael (Pee Wee) on a friendly basis. They would often talk as Sandy ordered their food. Diana witnessed Rob and Sandy bowing their heads before eating, and asked if she was a Christian. This led to more spiritual conversations. Sandy frequently invited Dee Dee and Pee Wee to their home Bible fellowship group but after a year of no success she started thinking they weren’t interested. Then one evening, Sandy got a call from Dee Dee wanting to know what she thought about the rapture. Dee Dee was frightened by the thought of it. As Dee Dee asked question after question, Sandy was able to share the truth about the Good News of the Second Coming. As you would guess, this led to Bible studies, and both Diana and her husband Ishmael were baptized a several months later.

Sandy has had some physical trials, and massage has been a great help to her. During her physical therapy she would talk with her young therapist about various spiritual topics. When Michelle asked what Sandy liked to do during the day, Sandy stated that she gave Bible studies and offered to study with her if she thought she might be interested. Michelle didn’t take her up on the offer right away but each week would inquire about more spiritual things until she finally set a date to come to Sandy’s house for Bible studies with her husband, Justin as well. Michelle and Justin were baptized January of this year.

Sandy kept praying for God to send her more Bible studies. While taking her daughter to the bank one day, one of the tellers recognized Crystal as having gone to the same Adventist Academy as he had. Mike mentioned that although he had gone to Adventist schools most of his life, he had never been baptized, nor did he understand the doctrine. Sandy immediately offered to study with him. Mike became faithful in studying with Sandy on a weekly basis and has just recently been baptized. Mike was so impressed with what he was learning that he immediately started witnessing to a coworker and brought her to Sandy for studies that are currently in progress.

Sandy has other studies as well and as soon as one finishes God gives her another. Sandy says, "If you ask God, he will send you people to study with." She is evidence that you can find interests in the common every-day places you work, shop or visit. Sandy is always anxious to ask people if they would like to study the Bible, and as you can see, they usually are.
